Rainy is 6 Months Old!
Today was Rainy’s birthday, she turned 6 months old. I got her and Cheri a Japanese autumn sweet: Purple Potato Tart. Cheri is an old pro at eating cake, but for Rainy it was her first time and it stuck to the roof of her mouth!

Rainy the Newspaper Shredder
When Rainy and Cheri are outside, which is most days that I am around, they play on the concrete with their large collection of doggy toys. Rainy’s favorite chew toy is her mother, though. Rainy's First Visit to the Veterinarian
Rainy turned two months old yesterday and that means it was time for her to get her first vaccination. Ouch!!! The staff at the vet clinic held her still and coaxed her with treats while the doc stuck her with the needle. She didn’t like it too much, but she squealed less than the nurses!
Rainy Meets Her First Vegetable - A Cucumber!
I gave a cucumber slice to Cheri but she didn’t want it, she usually likes them. Rainy found it and ran off with it. After toying with it for awhile, she ate most of it!
Rainy Chewing on Mama Beagle's Face - Yum!

Cheri Defending Her Ragged Old Toy from Her Baby...
This evening, still quite pleased with my iPhone video camera, I shot some more video of the mama and baby beagle playing. Usually Cheri will let Rainy do whatever she wants but when I got one of Cheri’s two favorite toys out, she did not want Rainy to play with it!
Rainy and Cheri Blanket Play
This morning I shot some video with my new iPhone 4. It shoots great video, I was really surprised! And, it is quick and easy to upload to the internet. I shot this video when I woke up, still in bed. Just like when I first shot a few videos of Cheri for CheriCast, a few years ago. Rainy somehow managed to wrap the blanket around Cheri!
Rainy Eating Her First Dog Food
Now I am really against dry dog food. What sort of food can be stored in a hot warehouse for 3 years and still be eaten? Only with heaps of preservatives can this be possible so I make Cheri’s dog food. Usually a mixture of rice, chicken parts, carrots and kabocha squash. Potty Training - Rainy is a Natural!
Several days ago, Rainy was just starting to wobble around. Now that she can walk and is quite mobile, I was really worried about her peeing all over the house. Somehow, she just started peeing on the sheet with just a couple of promptings. I can’t believe my luck! This girl is a natural!

Rainy really loves burrowing into corners and nooks for sleeping. She also likes the cool wooden floor on her hot tummy. Cheri loves her big fuzzy blanket, out in the open.

Recently it is getting hot and Rainy has found the north side of the house more comfortable than the south side, where she has been so for. The hallway on the north side is fairly dark and faces the garden and has a cool wooden floor. This evening I found Rainy sleeping there, on her back with her paws up in surrender. This posture facilitates radiating heat from her hot little beagle tummy!

Rainy couldn’t poop for 3 days! She is a constipated one! We had just been to the veterinarian earlier in the afternoon but the vet wasn’t too concerned. He said that it would come out eventually. Rainy likes to fall. She does this multiple times a day. She falls off the edge of her little comfy beagle world atop the thick blankets down onto the ledge of the tokonoma. Cheri just watches from above, apparently unconcerned.
